What Happens Next

Applied? Here are the next stages if you show you have what it takes.

Stage 1: Screening Event and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check

You’ll be invited to book on to a screening event, where you will be interviewed by our team to assess your suitability for the Team Up programme. Screening events for entry to our Spring programme will be held throughout December.

At your screening event, we’ll need to check you are eligible to work with children under the age of 16. You’ll need to fill out a DBS application form and show us some documents to verify your identity.

We accept applications on a rolling basis and there will be more dates released shortly, but the earlier you apply and attend a screening event, the more likely you are to get your first choice placement. We strongly advise candidates to submit their applications as early as possible.

Stage 2: Placement

You’ll be offered a place on the Team Up programme, and after attending your Induction, will shortly after receive confirmation of your specific school placement.

Stage 3: Training and Induction

You will undertake training delivered by Team Up staff to equip you with all that you need to know to be an effective and inspiring leader in the classroom. You'll have the chance to meet and network with other volunteers on our leadership programme, and our committee members. Firstly, you'll need to attend an Induction Day to be eligible to be placed in one of our schools.  At the Induction Day, you'll learn more about the Team Up programme, learn how to manage your pupils, and be trained on how to use the Team Up curriculum.  There are a number of Induction Days happening over the year, and you'll find out the next dates at your interview.

Don't worry - this won't be the only training you receive. During the programme, you'll also undertake Safeguarding training that is vital to working with children and young people, and will be offered a range of further opportunities for developing your confidence and skills.

Finally, you will also have an induction at your school, to make sure that you are fully ready to go when you meet your pupils.
