At Team Up, we are incredibly proud to have been nominated for the LSE Voluntary Organisation of the Year Award!
Throughout the year we've had the pleasure to work with a large group of talented LSE students on various projects which have made and continue to make a lasting difference to the young people we serve.
Many LSE students dedicated their time to tutor Maths to underperforming higher ability pupils on two of our LSE Widening Participation programmes that support young people in realising their potential to follow Maths at A-Level and beyond within outstanding Universities. The impact on their pupils' academic progress and self-confidence has been phenomenal with our LSE Maths pupils making on average more than double the expected progress across a term (+0.8 grades progress) and around 90% of pupils feeling confident in their ability to achieve their target grade in their GCSE exams this Summer.
In the last few months, Team Up also worked together with a group of knowledgeable and diligent LSE students on the LSE Community Engagement Programme. They spent several weeks conducting a research project on how Team Up can strengthen and diversify our volunteer network through analysing our recruitment practices and volunteer motivations for supporting Team Up’s mission. At the end of this project, this exceptional volunteer team presented an in-depth report in front of peers and other charity stakeholders, winning the award for Best Presentation and outlining high leverage recommendations. This in depth report has been incredibly useful in planning our future recruitment and marketing strategies to onboard more exceptional volunteers looking to support young people across London.
In addition, this Summer we will be collaborating with LSE on the Summer Volunteer Scheme for Disabled Students. We hope to welcome two volunteer students who will help us design our new marketing resources to support our communication with schools and tutor recruitment so that we can widen our reach to more underprivileged pupils in need of tuition. We're already looking forward to meeting them!
Finally, we would like to share a huge thank you to Rosie Coffey and the whole team at the LSE Volunteer Centre, and most importantly to the LSE students who have given us their time and worked so hard to help us improve Team Up pupils' future prospects.
